Please welcome Stacy Davis- The 2013-2014 Mother Nurture College Lactation Intern!
Stacy Davis is a graduate of Davenport University in Dearborn, MI, where she earned her Associates degree in Health Insurance Claims Management and a Bachelors degree in Health Administration. She also studied to become a candidate for her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy at Baker College in Clinton Township, MI.
Stacy began her journey, as member of Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA) in October, 2009, advocating for women’s right to publicly nourish their babies. Later, Stacy, received training from BMBFA as a Community-based Peer Counselor , where she worked assisting prenatal and breastfeeding mothers, in Detroit, in the privacy of their own homes, with breastfeeding education and issues. In August, 2013, Stacy became the Lactation Intern for the Mother Nurture Lactation College at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, MI. She was selected from a pool of approximately 100 candidates. Upon completion of her internship, in July, 2014, Stacy will be eligible to sit for her IBCLC certification to become a Certified Lactation Consultant.
Stacy is a wife and mother of four sons: Lawran, 13; Devahn, 9; Jessie, 3; and Jace, 12 months, who she continues to breastfeed; two stepdaughters: Jessica, 23 and Jhni, 15; and a granddaughter: Betty-Giselle, 2 months. She enjoys traveling, cooking, shopping and broadening her horizons.
